Ladan Iravanian looks ahead to British Salt 50th anniversary celebrations

Last year was an important one for Ladan Iravanian – General Manager for British Salt and the Sodium Bicarbonate business. Not only did she celebrate 30 years’ service at Tata Chemicals Europe, parent company of British Salt, she was selected by North West Insider magazine as one of 2018’s Top Women in Business.

Insider’s Top 100 Women in Business celebrates the successes of women in the region who have smashed glass ceilings and blazed a trail.

It’s little wonder Ladan was awarded the accolade, as looking ahead, 2019 looks set to be even more action-packed than last year for both Ladan and the entire British Salt business.

As British Salt celebrates fifty years since HRH Prince Philip opened the plant in 1969, the business is continuing to invest in a major programme of plant improvements.

2018 saw the transformation in the speed and quality of packing operations. As well as upgrading our Aquasol and Granulite pack lines, the business installed a new state of the art high speed PDV pack line.

Stepping up the programme of innovation, 2019 will mark £7m investment into a state of the art boiler plant.

Reflecting on the past 30 years, Ladan said:

'I feel lucky doing the job I do. No two years have been the same. What really makes the job worthwhile is the people. Coming to work each day, working with my colleagues and friends has always been a pleasure, despite the pressures of work.'

Looking to the future, Ladan commented “I can honestly say that there has never been a more exciting time to work for Tata Chemicals Europe as we embark on many exciting investments and projects to grow the business. A calendar of 50th anniversary celebrations heralds the next era for our robust and innovative future.”
